Cooking

“Cooking is multisensory. It’s made for the eyes, the mouth, the nose, the ear, and the soul. No other art is as complex.”

- Pierre Gagnaire -

The Great Oaks cooking program promotes real-life cooking skills and encourages creativity and experimentation.  The course teaches the importance of eating and cooking healthy dishes using the Eat Well Guide as set out by Public Health England, along with kitchen safety and hygiene.

Home cooking is a fundamental skill that stays with somebody throughout their life. Having the ability to ‘rustle up’ a quick meal or to cook for friends and family is extremely rewarding, tastes great, and is generally better for you. With small groups, we are fortunate to be able to break down the lesson into segments and spend time with a student to help them master a cooking technique. This could be learning how to whisk a meringue or how to peel and chop an onion safely.
